Dr. Irene Cheah mempunyai pengalaman kerja selama 33 tahun dan merupakan Pakar Perunding Kanan Pediatrik, Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Beliau telah menamatkan pengajian MBBS dari University of New South Wales, Sydney, MRCP dari Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, United Kingdom (UK) dan ditawarkan FRCPCh dari Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Dr. Irene Cheah merupakan ketua Unit Neonatal di Institut Pediatrik iaitu pusat rujukan kebangsaan di Malaysia. Beliau juga berkhidmat sebagai Pengerusi Kebangsaan Neonatal Registry dari tahun 2007 ke tahun 2017, terlibat dalam pembangunan program latihan resusitasi neonatal dan perkhidmatan neonatal lain. Dr. Irene Cheah juga merupakan jurulatih teras dan perunding rujukan agensi kesihatan bagi isu-isu perlindungan kanak-kanak.
