- Be Mindful Of What You Post
Do not spam others. Do not ridicule your school, your teachers, your friends or your parents and family in your post.
- Keep personal things personal.
Use private message for private matters instead of posting it for all to see. Be mindful of other people’s secrets.
- Call Rather Than Post Personal News
Call if you need to inform your friends or family about some important or personal news e.g death in the family. . It is rude and insincere to break important news on facebook, be it good or bad news

If your friends make comments or have question directed to you, reply or acknowledge it. It is rude not to respond.
- Be careful of your ‘tone’
Communicating in Facebook is textual. It is devoid of voice tone or body language. Others can misunderstand you. To compensate this, use emoticons. A simple smiley face after a sentence can neutralize any potential tension.
- Posting status Don’t overdo it !
While you are excited and enthusiastic to share your opinion and your life events, bear in mind that people reading your post may not share the same sentiments. Make sure your posts aren’t mundane and provide value to your audience. No one wants to know your each activity.
- Respect online copyright and intellectual property rights.
It is unethical to use someone else’s work without giving proper credit. Make sure you share statuses /notes /pictures rather than merely copy-pasting them.
- Do not send random game invites.
Your friends might not have the same interests in games as you. Confirm their interests first before sending out any invites. Exercise caution while inviting people to add any games or application.
- Be mindful of your language (and grammar).
Use appropriate language. Write only what you would say in person.
- Don’t add friends randomly
Don’t befriend anyone unless you know them well. Do not befriend strangers. You have to pay attention to your safety as well as that of your friends and family.

Unless there is a good reason to forward such status updates, photographs or videos, avoid being part of these spam-scams.
- Tag wisely.
When tagging others in your posts or pictures, be mindful of how it could affect his or her relationships, career or reputation. Do not tag your friends in “ unglam “ shots. If you’re tagged in a picture or post that could be questionable to fellow viewers, remove your tagged name. If you feel strongly enough, you could also ask your friend to delete the post.
- Stop asking people to “like” your updates.
Asking for people to like your status is cheap and adds no value to your friends’ news feeds.

Everyone is entitled to state their own opinion on the free internet, so there’s no need to put anyone down just because you disagree with them.

- Don’t post anything that will hurt a friend’s relationships.
