New Straits Times Wednesday, 29/06/2011 Ministry receives 591 applications to set up haemodialysis centres GEORGE TOWN: The Health Ministry has received 591 applications to form or manage haemodialysis centres nationwide up to May 31, said its deputy minister Datuk Rosnah Abd Rashid Shirlin. She said from this number, 282 applicants obtained full licences after meeting the criteria set by the ministry. She said all haemodialysis centres had to comply with regulations provided under Act 586, which is the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act. "The regulation will ensure services provided to patients are effective and of quality," she said at the launch of the Bayan Baru Haemodialysis Treatment Centre, here today. Meanwhile, the centre's managing director Dr A.Rasheed Ahamed said they planned to provide dialysis treatment to HIV and Hepatitis patients next year. He said the plan aimed to help patients who did not have a place to seek treatment for kidney disease. – Bernama
