Time management TIPS for adolescent

Make a schedule for the day.

  • What time do you usually wake up in the morning?
  • How long do you prepare yourself to go to school?
  • What time do you go to school?
  • What time do you arrive home after school ended?
  • How long it takes for you to complete your homework or your household chores given to you?

From there you can determine how much free time you have and schedule your day so that everything can be completed for the day.

Make a list of things that you want to do.

When you find yourself sitting and watching TV for hours or just doing nothing and being bored, use your list to change your free time into a productive time.

Set goals for what you want to accomplish.

Be specific when making a goal. For example, “I want to make some money” is not a goal; “I want to make RM 50.00 to buy a new pair of shoes in 2 month time” is a goal. It is much easier to reach a goal when you have something specific in mind.

Divide your daily activities into categories.

Decide on a priority when you divide your activities into each category. For example, ‘Completing homework is a priority’, ‘Doing exercise is a priority’, ‘Hanging out at the mall is not,’ Set your activities based on your priorities.

Set time limits for yourself.

If you need to complete household chores, set a time limit. Work on to complete them within the set time limits.

Use a diary.

A diary or time table helps you keep a track of your responsibilities and tasks. It also enables you to plan your days based on what needed to be accomplished. By doing so, this will allow you plenty of time to do what you want to do.

Keep as much routines as possible.

Knowing what you need to do and when you need to do it will help you to accomplish more.
